word of my coach.

Coach: Alexandra.

During this process of learning in this course, we have been as competitors with ourselves when we tried to compare our previous experience in other courses with the knowledge we have acquired in this course. We have fought to be better but most of all, we have fought to know who we are and we are able to do whatever we want. I should say we are not the same as before because most of us have changed our way of speaking, writing and using our body language. Also, we feel a little bit more comfortable when we are in front of a class; it is because we got that essential part of our life that knows who we are.

Some Dayliana’ strengths showed:
1.    To defend you own point of view: When you spoke in your presentation, you defended your ideas and you felt secure about your topics. I think it is a great strength when youuphold your thoughts.
2.    Clarification of your ideas giving examples: I paid attention to your presentation and I noticed when you said or expressed an idea, you usually used examples to support your ideas. I think it is important to give examples because it looks like you have more information to say and also it looks like you research information on different sources.
Some Dayliana’s areas for improvement showed:
1.    To speak slowly: When you presented your talks, you spoke fast and many timesit was difficult to understand what youwere saying. Speaking fast is a great ability, but it needs to be control when you will be in front of a class or maybe giving a conference.
2.    Body language: When you presented your topic, you neither use body language nor eye contact. It will be more natural when you see people on their eyes; it makes you feel confidence in you at the moment of presenting your speeches. Furthermore, you need to use your hands when you say something because hands help you to your presentation looks more attractive and catch our attention. Also, to use your body by moving from one place to another but not doing that a lot.

As a final general comment, you have a lot strengths you need to defend but also you have weaknesses you can correct them and at the moment you are doing a speech you can do a perfect job.

oral report number 1

 Oral report number 1
My presentation was about extreme body modification, and it was individually, for that reason I had all the attention and all the stage just for me, and that putted me very nervous, but I think that I did a good job, I know what are the things that I have to improve and for the first time I really force myself to apply that areas in a good way.
for example to use eye contact, I know that I didn’t do it in the correct way all the time, but I really try to did it and applied it, so for that I felt very proud of myself, but I recognize that I have to continue work in it. Eye contact is not the only thing that I have to improve, I have to start talking slowly, it is very difficult for me, and I know that I have to do something about it, but when I am presenting I forget it, so I decide to found a way that remember me that I am talking fast, maybe a friend in my audience or something in my hand that help me with that, I have to start trying those ideas, in order to find the best one and Then I have to start making connections with my audience, like move my hands or move myself through the stage, and for that it would be good if I practice before my presentation with some friends or family, in order to feel comfortable and to lose the fear.
On the other hand I think that I am good choosing my topic, I choose an interesting topic with new information, and I now how to develop and that I avoid pet words and fillers.

So I know that if I improve my stage ownership and try to do my presentation in a more normally way, I am going to do a good job in my next presentations.

Self Assessment

Self assessment

In my self assessment I notice that I have many areas of improve, the tree more important are: follow the essentials of lecture, talks and reports and other forms of academic/professional presentation which are propositionally and linguistically complex, argue a formal position convincingly responding to questions and comments, and answering in a complex lines of counter argument fluently, spontaneously and appropriately, and take ownership of the stage by controlling the space and interacting with the audience, for that reason my coach and I decide to think about what kind of action I can implement, so the first one is to read articles about different topics, in order to have more information and vocabulary, second, try to practice my presentation in front of friends, so I can practice and force myself to use eye contact and to be more natural, and finally, practice how to make pauses when it is required and do breathing exercise.
